I tried the new McDonald purple milkshake and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was

McDonald’s has launched a limited-edition milkshake that will only be available in the UK for just one week – so I decided to give it a try before it disappears.

The Grimace Shake is a blueberry-flavoured milkshake named after the McDonald’s purple mascot and became extremely popular in America where it went viral on social media.

I tried my luck and see if the ice cream machine was working at my local McDonald’s to see if it was worth the hype.

I am not someone who usually orders from McDonald’s so my expectations were low, but to my amazement, I do believe this purple milkshake is worth trying as it was very tasty.

The first thing I noticed when I went to order is that a Grimance shake costs £2.59 for a medium and £2.99 for a large, which costs slightly more than a standard chocolate, vanilla or strawberry milkshake.

This is compared to the £1.99 that a regular medium shake usually costs at McDonald’s and £2.19 for a large milkshake, but the prices may be different depending on your location.

After buying the milkshake the next thing I noticed was that it was a pale lilac colour and after opening the lid it had a fruity smell that reminded me of bubblegum.

I was a bit disappointed it did not have its own special packaging seeing as how much hype the milkshake has gotten online, but this may just be me being nitpicky.

It was quite thick so I had to wait a few minutes for the milkshake to melt before I could take a sip, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

The milkshake had a strong blueberry flavour but also had a sweet vanilla taste to it as well that reminded me of blueberry muffins.

It is also quite tart. I recommend trying it for anyone whose favourite biscuits are Jaffa cakes or whose favourite Cadbury Rose chocolates are strawberry-flavoured.

As someone who does not usually eat at McDonald’s, I think I will try to order one again sometime next week before it disappears for good as I really enjoyed it.

The Grimace Shake launched in the UK a few days ago on Thursday, August 29 and is only available until Tuesday, September 3.

If you are someone who likes berry-flavoured treats then I definitely recommend giving it a go as I now understand why it was loved so much in America.

In my opinion, this limited edition milkshake is the perfect way to end the summer and get ready for autumn, where there will likely be many autumn-themed treats to look forward to in the upcoming months.
