I stocked up on Squishmallow earphones that scanned for just £1 at B&M – kids will love them, they are ideal for Easter

IF you are looking for the perfect Easter gift, you may wish to pop to B&M.

The retailer has currently discounted its Squishmallow earphones to just £1.

Previously they had been sold for £16, but shoppers said they are scanning for a quid at the till.

The wireless earphones come in an egg-shaped box, meaning they could be a fun alternative for Easter eggs if youngsters already have a mound of chocolate.

And at £1, they could be cheaper too.

One shopper took to the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK and shared how they had snapped up the Squishmallow product on their last shop.

Numerous people have commented on the post and said they are also keen to get hold of them too.

One person wrote: “I must try and remember to have a look tomorrow. I haven’t been for ages.”

Another added: “I want these for me.”

And a third shared: “Omg I love.”

Squishmallow craze

Squishmallows were first launched in 2017 by the toy company Kellytoy, founded by Jonathan Kelly, and have boomed in popularity in recent years.

They are inspired by the popularity of Japanese-style plushies and were designed to be “super soft, huggable, and collectible.”

The original line-up featured eight characters, including Cam the Cat and Wendy the Frog.

However, it has since expanded and there are now over 1,000 unique characters.

Special editions include Disney collaborations, Pokémon Squishmallows, and even food-themed plushies.

B&M Easter treat

If you are looking for some of the edible kind for Easter, B&M has dropped the price of a huge Cadbury Easter egg to £5 and it’s the cheapest out of the major retailers.

The Dairy Milk Chunky Ultimate egg has been discounted by 50 per cent from £10, meaning the cost per 100g is £1.25.

The pack comes with an extra thick chocolate egg and bag of individually wrapped Cadbury Dairy Milk chunks.

Shoppers keen to buy the egg for a loved one this Easter will have to head to their nearest B&M store as you can’t order it online.

The retailer says stock is low though so you’ll have to be quick and bear in mind your local branch might not be selling it at all.

We looked at how much other major retailers are selling the same Cadbury egg for and B&M’s works out significantly cheaper.

Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Tesco and Waitrose are all selling the XL egg, but the cheapest price is at Asda where it is £12.98 – almost £8 more expensive.

Morrisons is selling the egg for £14 while Ocado, Tesco and Waitrose are all stocking it for £15.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
