I made the most delicious ghost brownies for Halloween – and they were so simple

With Halloween here, filling the day with baking or spooky activities is a great way to pass the time with children.

Brownies are super quick and easy to whip up, but topped with a homemade white chocolate ghost makes eating them even more enjoyable.

Taking my favourite brownie recipe ever from Jane’s Patisserie, I then made little ghosts using melted white chocolate and a toothpick to create these spooky creations.

The ghosts can be coloured using oil-based food colouring to whatever colour you fancy, and they can also be made using any chocolate.

Start by making the ghosts so they have enough time to set before the brownies are baked.

Ingredients:

For the brownies:

200g dark chocolate

200g unsalted butter

Three large eggs, or four medium

275g caster sugar

100g plain flour

50g cocoa powder

100g white chocolate chips

100g milk chocolate chips

100g dark chocolate chips

For the ghosts:

100g white chocolate, melted

50g milk chocolate, melted

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan and line a 9” baking tray with paper.

Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in the microwave, and then leave to cool to room temperature.

Using an electric whisk, whisk the eggs and caster sugar together until light and double in size.

Pour over the cooled chocolate mixture and carefully mix together.

Once combined, sift in the cocoa powder and plain flour, gently stirring them together again.

Fold in the chocolate chips, then pour it in the lined tray and cook for 25 to 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate down and make the ghosts. For this I used a teaspoon in a swiping motion to create the body, then a toothpick to extend the chocolate to make the arms.

I then used the melted milk chocolate on another toothpick to make the eyes and the mouth.

Make sure the the brownies are completely cool when doing this otherwise, they will melt.
