IF you’re looking for ways to battle the heat, you’ve come to the right place.
With spring in full swing and summer just around the corner, one savvy woman has shared the simple way she cools down on hot days.

So rather than enviously staring at your neighbour’s gorgeous swimming pool or wishing you were somewhere abroad, you’ll want to check this out.
Getting a swimming pool built can vary massively in price, but the average cost to construct one can range between £85,000 and £222,000.
Although you can buy swimming pools for much cheaper from a range of high-street shops, with many around just £100 a pop, one woman decided to take matters into her own hands and build her own.
Rather than heading to Amazon, B&Q or Smyths Toys for a swimming pool, using a trampoline, some tape and ratchet straps, a DIY enthusiast was able to make her very own swimming pool without breaking the bank – yes, you heard that correctly.

Posting on social media, the anonymous woman who writes under the username @Flimsy_Economics1607, shared a snap of her DIY pool – and it’s left many open-mouthed.
Writing on the r/redneckengineering forum, the woman explained that trolls have been negative about her DIY project, but she isn’t bothered by what people say, as she wrote: “Ima just leave this here for everyone hating on my pool.”
She then added: “Putting the bar in this week. Some people just know how to have a good time.”
The woman didn’t confirm what she used for the base of her pool, but did explain that she used the legs and poles of a trampoline frame for the structure of her pool.
She also used an “old trampoline mat” as a canopy and attached hanging solar lights to her creation.
The woman added some wooden steps leading up to the pool and even decorated the area with brightly-coloured rubber rings and hanging decorative murals.
While the pool might not be to everyone’s taste, we think it’s a great example of a DIY creation done with limited funds.
Reddit users were left massively divided by the DIY pool – while some thought it was “amazing”, others described it as “ugly”.

One user beamed: “Pretty impressive.”
A second chimed in: “Bro I’d die for that pool that’s f*****g amazing.”
Swimming safety advice
Experts have revealed some of their top advice for both adults and kids heading to the water this summer:
How to stay safe at the beach
Gareth Morrison, Head of Water Safety at the RNLI said: “If you find yourself being swept out to sea in a rip, try to relax and float until you are free from the rip and you can then swim to safety.
“If you see someone else in danger, alert a lifeguard or call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.”
How to stay safe at the swimming pool
Tiny Hearts Education, former paramedic and CEO Nikki Jurcutz said: “Always put your little one in bright or contrasting colours that would be easy to find in an emergency.
“It only takes 20 seconds to drown, little tips like this could save a life”.
An Auqabliss spokesperson added: “Swimming toys such as noodles, dive rings, floaties and beach balls can be dangerous if left in the pool.
“Children may try to grab these from the pool’s edge and fall in.”
How to stay safe at a waterpark
Ali Beckman, Puddle Ducks Technical Director, said: “Never send a child down the slide on their own, not only are they going to be entering the slide pool area independently, they then have to exit the pool and wait for an adult.
“And wave pools should be avoided until your child is really confident with water going over their faces and you know they are able to regain their feet independently.
“Waterparks are often very busy places and it’s easy to lose sight of a child in a split second.”
Whilst another shared: “I don’t care what anyone says, I’m jealous of your pool, that thing is so sick.”
But at the same time, someone else said: “That is a big ugly bathtub.”
And one homeowner added: “If you were my neighbour I’d have to pee in that thing. Then poke it with a sharp object.”
