She suggested a natural solution as well, using white vinegar and dish soap. The soap helps the vinegar stick to the ivy; be careful not to spray plants you want to keep.
After a few weeks, the ivy should be mostly gone. To keep it gone for good, use a rake to remove any leftover vines from the dirt.
