What’s old will once again be new — Hollywood style — when Heather Locklear stars in another reboot of “Melrose Place.”
The 62-year-old actress, who played vixen Amanda Woodward on the 1990s primetime soap, will reportedly join original castmates Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga for a Lauren Gussis-scripted series in development at CBS Studios. Gussis is a writer and producer behind shows including “Dexter” and “Insatiable.”
Deadline reports that while there’s currently no official premiere date for the reboot, the show will follow “the OG residents of Melrose Place ” when they come together to honor one of their dearest friends who suddenly died.
“But the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective,” the description for the show reads.
Created by Darren Starr (who went on to deliver other TV touchstones with “Sex and the City” and “Younger”), the original “Melrose Place” also starred Thomas Calabro, Andrew Shue, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Josie Bissett, Doug Savant, Grant Show, Jack Wagner and Marcia Cross.
A spinoff of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” the series ran for seven seasons on Fox between 1992 and 1999. Stars including Rob Estes, Kelly Rutherford, Brooke Langton, Lisa Rinna, Alyssa Milano, Vanessa Estelle Williams and Kristin Davis helped bring the drama throughout its run.
A short-lived reboot of the same name, in which Locklear also starred, ran on The CW from 2009 to 2010.
The “Dynasty” breakout became a tabloid mainstay with her marriages to rock artists Richie Sambora and Tommy Lee, and her subsequent legal troubles. Her most recent acting credit was the 2021 Lifetime movie “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story.”
