Harry’s pal says behaviour is ‘unforgivable’ after bombshell interview claiming he’d ‘love reconciliation’ with family

PRINCE Harry has been slammed as “unforgivable” by his old financier mate.

The Duke of Sussex has received a wave of criticism following his bombshell TV interview – and now Ben Goldsmith has spoken out to agree.

The son of late billionaire Sir James Goldsmith is the first former friend to blast the royal in public.

But the prince admitted he lost friends over his decision to speak to Oprah Winfrey about his family problems.

Speaking to the Mail’s Richard Eden, Goldsmith added his voice to Harry’s critics.

His sister Jemima was so close to Diana that the princess visited her twice in Pakistan.

But he said: “Tragic but true – Prince Harry’s behaviour is unforgivable.”

Prince Harry’s biggest bombshells:

Prince Harry astonishingly unleashed a 30-minute tirade on the BBC following his court defeat in the three-year row over his security.

The 40-year-old’s round-the-clock security was axed when Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Last week he suffered yet another humiliating defeat as he fought to get it back.

The Duke of Sussex brought the case against the Home Office and the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec).

But Sir Geoffrey Vos, Lord Justice Bean and Lord Justice Edis ruled against him in a blow for the prince.

The loss – his second unsuccessful appeal against the decision – could be the final nail in the coffin for his security row, although Harry could still take his fight to the Supreme Court.

It also means he faces paying the legal costs for both sides, which is estimated to amount to more than £1.5million.

Insiders said King Charles was thinking of ways forward to reconcile with his youngest son and this depended on Harry’s reaction to the court defeat.

The “upset” King is unlikely to be happy that Harry decided to air his frustrations on TV.

Prince Harry revealed he will be writing to the Home Secretary to ask her to review the matter.

The 40-year-old claimed that the “Royal Household are key decision-makers on RAVEC”.

“Before the Royal Household’s role on RAVEC was known, this secretive committee concluded that when my wife would join the royal family, she should not receive protection.

“Only when I asked for the name of the person willing to carry that risk did they reverse the decision.”

The prince went on to slam the lack of a risk assessment as a “dereliction of duty”.

Harry said he was born into “lifelong circumstances that create inherent security risks” as a royal.

The prince had declared his “life is at stake” but some experts have hit out at the estranged royal, suggesting Harry just wants to cut down on the costs of paying for bodyguards.

In a jaw-dropping interview with the BBC following his defeat, Harry still claimed to want “reconciliation” with his family.Harry bizarrely claimed to be the victim of an establishment stitch-up and “can’t see a world” in which he would bring his wife and kids here.

Harry claimed he did not want his father to intervene in the security row, adding: “I asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs.”He claimed there had been “interference” by the Royal Household in the 2020 decision, which he said resulted in his status as the most at-risk royal being downgraded to the least at risk “overnight”.Despite Harry’s claims it is understood the Royal Household’s role and power on the committee is minimal — and rests solely working around family members’ diaries.

Harry has claimed he took his family to the US fearing Meghan could die like his mother Diana. He added: “I don’t want any battles to continue. There is way too much suffering and way too much conflict in the world. At the heart of it is a family dispute.”In another swipe he added: “If anything was to happen to me, my wife, or my father’s grandchildren, if anything was to happen to them, look where the responsibility lies, you know?

A Palace spokesman said of the long-running security battle: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
