Actor Eric Mabius, best known for his work in the ABC comedy series “Ugly Betty,” has been arrested in Florida.
The 53-year-old father of two was arrested by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office in the early hours of Thursday, according to People. He was charged with battery and resisting arrest without violence, both misdemeanor offenses.
In his mugshot, Mabius is wearing a T-shirt with a stretched collar and appears to have a black eye on the right side along with a cut near his left eye, suggesting he may have been involved in a physical altercation before his arrest.
Details of the incident were unclear as of Thursday evening.
The Pennsylvania native got his first break in the entertainment industry with the 1995 cult classic “Welcome to the Dollhouse,” starring Heather Matarazzo.

Over the next few years, Mabius had recurring roles in popular TV shows including “Chicago Hope,” “Party of Five,” “The O.C.” and “The L Word” before gaining national recognition for playing womanizing executive Daniel Meade in all four seasons of “Ugly Betty,” from 2006 through 2010.
Mabius then became one of the stars of Hallmark’s romantic comedy series and made-for-TV films “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” — earning the title of a “Hallmark heartthrob.”
A rep for the actor did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday afternoon.
