Grand Theft Auto 6 will certainly be the biggest new game release of 2025. Rockstar Games will likely sell tens of millions of copies at launch, before making even more money from the online component.
Of course, when you’re dealing with a game as ambitious as GTA 6, there’s a very good chance it will suffer a delay or two, especially if Rockstar and parent company Take-Two want to avoid the kind of launch issues that plagued the likes of Cyberpunk 2077.
However, while I’m convinced the game will eventually be delayed, Take-Two has given fans more reason to be optimistic about the GTA 6 release date.
Indeed, in a recent earnings call with investors, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick once again confirmed that GTA 6 will have an autumn 2025 release date.
“As we look ahead, we believe that Take-Two remains exceedingly well-positioned for the long term,” Zelnick said.
“Our vision is clear, our talent is unparalleled, and we have one of the strongest portfolios of owned intellectual property in our industry. With many exciting new titles coming in Fiscal 2026 – including Grand Theft Auto 6 in the fall, Borderlands 4, and Mafia: The Old Country – we expect to create long-term value for our shareholders.”
Autumn (Fall) runs from September until the end of November, which means we’re a maximum of 12 months away from the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.
With Take-Two continuing to insist that GTA 6 won’t be delayed, Grand Theft Auto fans are daring to dream that we’ll be paying Vice City a visit before Christmas 2025.
Unfortunately, we’re still none the wiser regarding the release of the next Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. The first trailer made its debut last December, so maybe we’ll get a follow-up in the coming weeks.
What we do know for sure is that Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.
Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The previously released trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.
The trailer also hints at a potential game-changing new feature for Grand Theft Auto 6, which will up the scale to never-before-seen levels.
