Weeds don’t only grow in those expected places like where there are other plants, but also where you wouldn’t expect like gravelled areas and in-between patio slabs.
The easiest way to get rid of weeds is typically to use a chemical-filled weed killer, however, many are opposed to this.
Another option to remove the weeds is to pull them out by hand, however, this can be quite strenuous and tiresome.
A chemical-free route may take a little while longer to work but it will make your garden space safe for people, pets, and the local wildlife alike.
Gardening pros at Eco Gardener, have shared a few natural methods – one of which sees the weeds “shrivel and die in a day”.
The gardeners claimed that the type of acidic compound in lemon juice makes it a “natural enemy of weeds”.
They added: “Lemon juice kills weeds so effectively that it’s considered to work as the best natural weed killer there is.
“The citric acid in lemon juice dries out weed foliage until the weeds shrivel up and die in just a matter of a day.”
For this method, gardeners can use fresh lemon juice or buy a bottle of lemon juice drink. Just pour the juice directly on the weedy spots and you’re done.
Be sure to avoid the nearby plants and crops when spraying or pouring the juice on the weedy spots.
If you want to make the juice “even more potent”, mix a little garlic juice in with it.
Garlic is “incredibly beneficial” to the garden as it helps “deter pests, prevents the spread of diseases, and improve the health of your outdoor space”.
To use garlic as a weed killer, blend three cloves of garlic with a little water in the blender until nice and smooth. Strain the processed garlic and pour the essence into a spray bottle.
To make the mixture “extra sticky”, add a tablespoon or two of molasses. This way, the solution will “adhere to the weeds and won’t be washed away easily”.
