GRAMMY-winning rapper Jay Rock has been arrested by Los Angeles Police – after he tried to flee his vehicle during a pull-over.
The renowned artist, real name Johnny Reed McKinzie, was arrested in Nickerson Garden, in Watts on Thursday for trespassing and drinking in public.

Los Angeles police said that they also found a firearm in the 39-year-old’s vehicle.
Police added that after McKinzie ran from his vehicle, officers chased him down before detaining him.
The musician reportedly ran after police refused to say why he had been detained in the first place.
He was booked on suspicion of felony weapons violation.

The rapper is known for his work with music label Top Dawg Entertainment, and collaborations with iconic rapper Kendrick Lamar.
He won a Grammy award for the song “King’s Dead”, in 2019, which is on the soundtrack for the Hollywood hit film Black Panther.
Iconic rap album “good kid, m.A.A.d. city”, which McKinzie also featured on, was nominated for Grammy in 2014.
Jay Rock has also collaborated with other big names in the hip hop scene including Lil Wayne, will.i.am and Schoolboy Q.
