Gordon Ramsay says one budget-friendly ingredient will make roast chicken delicious every time – and it’s probably already in your kitchen.
In a YouTube video for MasterClass, Gordon explains the secret to crispy golden skin and juicy tender meat is a staple 23p ingredient.
He revealed one egg makes all the difference, which should be cracked, mixed and evenly brushed over the bird, before adding on some Sichuan pepper.
This method apparently helps the seasoning stick to the skin and lock in the juices during roasting, which he says should last for 55 to 60 minutes at 400 degrees.
After pulling the finished chicken out the oven, he praised his work saying: “Trust me, there’s no chef anywhere in the world that can make juices like that without roasting the chicken this way.”
He said: “The labour of love is at the beginning. Treat this bird with respect, and trust me, it’ll come back tenfold.”
The celebrity chef holds a total of 8 Michelin stars across his 88 international restaurants, including his flagship Restaurant Gordon Ramsay which has held three Michelin stars for more than 22 years, so if anyone is in the know, it’s likely to be him.
At Asda, a 12 pack of free-range medium eggs costs £2.70, meaning this hack works out at less than 23p.
