A 16-year-old girl riding on the back of a scooter was fatally struck by a Bronx SUV driver Tuesday, police said.
The scooter was operated by a 19-year-old man critically hurt when they were struck by the driver of a Honda Pilot about 12:05 p.m., cops said.
The two teens were zipping north on University Ave. when they were struck by the 22-year-old driver, who was heading in the same direction, near W. 192nd St.
Both teens were thrown from the scooter and onto the pavement, where they suffered severe head and body trauma.
Medics pronounced the girl dead on the scene and rushed the older victim to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition. The girl’s name was not immediately released.
The Honda driver remained on the scene and was not hurt. He was not immediately facing charges as police continue to investigate.
