Warning: This story contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season eight, episode one.
Game of Thrones fans have waited two years for season eight and the series finale and were left disappointed and angry at what they see as a trailer for the rest of the series.
Much hype has surrounded the HBO season premiere, but it did not provide fans with the drama they craved.
Fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration, with one saying: “Expected a lot of things to happen until the very end but got nothing. Overhyped first episode.”
Another added: “Well this episode ended up being an hour long teaser trailer for the season, which would be fine expect we only have five episodes left.”
Fans are worried that the number of episodes is not going to be able to give them all the answers they want and need.
The episode saw Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) ride into Winterfell with the returning Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and her huge army.
Her dragons accompanied her and led to a standoff between Daenerys and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), who clearly do not like each other.
Different scenes were set, but fans were left feeling they expected more from the episode.
Also in the episode, Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) came clean to Jon about his true birth father and mother, revealing his relation to Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.
The former Night’s Watch solider told Jon he was never a bastard, but is the true heir to the Iron Throne not his beloved Daenerys.
Fans were left confused when the episode ended as they expected the episode to be longer than one hour.
One fan took to Twitter to question: “Where are the extended episodes of Game of Thrones?”
Another added: “Was expecting more for the season premiere of Game of Thrones but the ending has me shook.”
It seems for a lot of fans, the ending between Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) was the standout moment of drama.
Bran reveals he is waiting for a old friend and the scene cuts to a hooded Jaime locked in a stare with the former.
In a full circle moment for the pair from season one, episode one, it left fans desperate for next week’s instalment as they find out how Bran reacts to reuniting with the man who left him paralysed.
One Twitter user said: “For god’s sake can next Sunday get here already?! That ending though with Jaime and Bran.”
Another fan claimed: “That was the perfect ending!! Bringing it full circle with Jaime and Bran.”
Fans will have to wait to find out how Bran reacts to being reunited with his nemesis and whether he will seek revenge.
Game of Thrones season eight continues next Sunday on and Sky Atlantic on Monday at 2am.
