Game of Thrones fans have been clamouring for more screen-time for the favourite character that is Ghost – Jon Snow’s (played by Kit Harington) direwolf.
Whilst Ghost has been in and out of many of the show’s scenes throughout season eight, episode four saw him get the most airtime in a while.
But it wasn’t going to be the happy reunion fans were looking for, as he simply stood next to Jon during the funeral for those who fell during the previous battle.
Later in the episode, fans were left utterly enraged when Jon spoke to Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) about the night before.
The warriors reminisced about their time together before finally bidding farewell to one another for good.
As Tormund announced he was heading North of the Wall once again, Jon gave him an order: take Ghost with him.
He explained Ghost would have more room to run free in the true North, and doesn’t belong in the southern realms.
This sombre decision was made even worse when Jon simply gave his old friend Ghost a miserable nod goodbye before setting off to King’s Landing.
Despite battling alongside his direwolf for eight seasons, Jon simply couldn’t bring himself to pet his puppy one more time before being separated (presumably) forever.
And, needless to say, fans of the show were disgusted by Jon’s actions.
One ranted on Twitter: “Jon, don’t you f*****g let Ghost leave your side! He NEEDS you just as much as you NEED him!
“Don’t you f*****g see that?! How could you even think of letting him go like that?!?! HOW COULD YOU!!! #GameofThrones.”
Another agreed: “Real talk, wtf is up @GameOfThrones. You literally did nothing with #Ghost, for this entire show! That goodbye was awful.”
A third blasted: “A lot of shady things have happened on Game of Thrones (most of which I still don’t understand) but I think Jon leaving Ghost without telling him he’s a good boy is the worst! #GamefThrones #Ghost #GoodBoyGhost.”
Meanwhile, other viewers were convinced Jon would eventually be reunited with his pet once again in the future.
One wrote: “Maybe Jon didn’t say goodbye to Ghost because he knows they’ll see each other again. #GameOfThrones.”
Fans were also becoming a little irate later in the episode as they noticed a huge blunder during the dinner scene.
During a moment between Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon, fans spotted what looked like a coffee cup on the table.
One furious fan wrote: “You’re telling me they had TWO YEARS to put together a decent show and they couldn’t even spot the goddamn Starbucks cup in Winterfell??!?! #GameOfThrones.”
Game of Thrones continues Sunday on HBO in the USA and the following day on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
