Game of Thrones fans saw episode two air this weekend, and with it came a number of new character interactions.
Although Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) and Gendry (Joe Dempsie) spent a lot of time together this episode, Gendry’s family reveal was perhaps the most important.
While Gendry told the young wolf about his journey so far, he also let slip about his true parentage.
He explained that Melisandre (Carice van Houtem) revealed Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) was his real father.
As fans know, this makes Gendry the current rightful heir to the throne, after Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman) died.
Although Arya initially brushes this information off, it could become hugely important once again in the upcoming episodes.
Currently not many people on the show know the truth about Gendry’s father, and it is fairly obvious he would like to keep it that way.
But with the truth about Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) royal bloodline on the brim of being announced in coming episodes, Arya may release this information sooner rather than later.
While Arya is not exactly the best at conveying politics, she surely knows the importance of Gendry’s bloodline.
And it is because of this she may keep his secret until she is put face-to-face with Cersei (Lena Headey) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).
But if she reveals the truth to the two current queens, will Arya be vying for the throne herself if her romance with Gendry continues to ramp up?
Meanwhile it has been suggested Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is the real target of the Night King (Vladimir Furdik).
Deputy editor of Waters On The Wall Luka Nieto recently told Metro.co.uk: “If you have watched the premiere I’m not telling you anything you don’t know, but Bran will play a large role in the war against the White Walkers and their army of the dead.”
He followed up by explaining the Night King previously tracked down the former Three-Eyed Ravens North of the Wall and killed them.
This could certainly be the angle the Night King is going for in upcoming episodes.
But while fans may think Bran is being tracked down by the Night King, the reason has not yet been revealed.
Bran can see into the future and the past with his new powers – could this be something the Night King is trying to get?
And if so, what will he be able to do with this power?
Fans will have to wait and find out as the Night King draws ever closer to Winterfell.
Game of Thrones season eight continues Sunday on HBO and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
