Fresh woke madness as William Shakespeare’s birthplace will be ‘decolonised’ over ‘white supremacy’ fears

THE birthplace of William Shakespeare is to be given a woke anti-colonialism makeover.

Bosses who run the house believe some items in their archives contain “language or depictions that are racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise harmful”.

And they say they want to be more inclusive by reflecting on how the Bard’s works played a part in colonialism.

It follows a research paper which suggested his promotion as a writer of genius “benefits the ideology of white European supremacy”.

Shakespeare was born in the house in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warks, in 1564.

It has had more than 25million visitors since becoming a museum in 1847.

But in 2022 a research project between the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Birmingham professor Dr Helen Hopkins tore into his legacy.

Instead of considering him the greatest, it said he should be seen as “part of a community of equal and different writers around the world”.

Dr Hopkins told the trust to acknowledge the “narrative” of the Bard’s greatness has caused harm.

Yesterday the trust said: “We’re ensuring our collections are as accessible as possible.”

To be or not to be for Dyer?

ACTOR Danny Dyer thinks he might be in his “Shakespeare era” and is just waiting for someone to offer him a part.

The hardman EastEnders star, 47, said that treading the boards in a play by the Bard would be like “chucking my nut under without a snorkel”.

He has been told by other actors that he would be great in such a role.

And while the thought terrifies him, he told the Table Manners podcast that he is open to the possibility.
