French Open LIVE: Novak Djokovic may withdraw as Aryna Sabalenka emulates Serena Williams

French Open bosses will be fearing the worst after Novak Djokovic admitted that he may be forced to pull out of his quarter-final clash after picking up a knee injury.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion sustained a knee injury during his thrilling five-set victory over Francisco Cerundolo on Monday at Roland Garros, later bemoaning the condition of the clay court following his setback. The Serb is set to take on Casper Ruud next in Paris, and French Open chiefs will be desperate for their biggest name to remain in the competition as the event reaches the business end.

Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev booked his spot in the quarter-finals first thing this morning after overcoming Holger Rune in another five-setter that finished at 1:40am as the row over scheduling continues.

Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov takes on Jannik Sinner today in the first of the men’s quarter-finals this afternoon before Carlos Alcaraz faces Stefanos Tsitsipas for a spot in the last-four.

And on the women’s side of the draw, Coco Gauff and Ons Jabeur are first up this morning at Roland Garros while Iga Swiatek faces off with Marketa Vondrousova. It’s turned out to be a very strong line-up at the quarter-final stage with Elena Rybakina battling it out with Italian Jasmine Paolini tomorrow too.

Finally, Aryna Sabalenka – who has emulated Serena Williams by becoming the first player since Serena Williams to win her opening 11 Grand Slam matches of the season in conecutive years – will face 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva tomorrow too.
