If you get your daily fix of TV via Freeview there’s good news. The free-to-view service has announced a number of changes including new channels launching. In fact, there are three bonus services that are now available to view including SonLife on channel 96, wedotv movies on channel 275 and finally the arrival of Rewind TV on channel 95.
This nostalgia-packed platform launched all the way back in May on Sky boxes and offers back-to-back classic content including shows such as The Prisoner, comedy series Drop the Dead Donkey and children’s programming including Worzel Gummidge. Whose Line Is It Anyway, Tony Hancock and The Charmer starring Nigel Havers is also available plus you can sit back and view factual series as well such as Whicker’s World and World in Action.
“Rewind Television is the destination channel for curated classic TV,” the team behind the platform confirmed.
Like all channels on Freeview, Rewind Television is totally free to watch and there’s no subscription fees to pay.
Along with those new things to watch, there are also channel moves with TV Warehouse +1 switching from channel 95 to channel 94.
Some services are also changing with GREAT! Romance officially now transforming into GREAT! Christmas (ch 52) and That’s Rock MCR now becoming That’s Fabulous (ch 78).
Sadly, a couple of things are also closing down with Mech+ and GREAT! Real ending transmission – it’s unclear why. To get these updates you’ll now need to retune your TV – full instructions can be found here.
“On 18th September 2024 some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels,” Freeview confirmed.
“You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date.”
One final thing to note this week. A band of high pressure is hovering over the UK again and that’s bad news for signals.
If your area is badly hit by the issue then you may find your TV screen is pixelated, scrambled and not offering its usual pin-sharp image.
“Freeview viewers across the UK could see some disruption to their TV reception from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th September 2024 This is due to high pressure which could disrupt the TV signals which Freeview uses.
You are advised not to retune your TV during this time – reception will be restored once the high pressure passes.”
