Neil Cavuto, one of Fox News’ first anchors, is leaving the network after nearly 30 years.
The 66-year-old Long Island native, who has overseen business and election content for both Fox News and Fox Business Network, reportedly passed up an offer to extend his contract, which was already set to expire at the end of this month.
The bestselling author and business journalist has been with Fox News since its 1996 debut. Cavuto currently anchors Fox News’ weekday show “Your World” and Saturday program “Cavuto Live,” as well as Fox Business Network’s weekday “Cavuto Coast to Coast.”
“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media,” the network said in a statement to the Daily News. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”
The “More Than Money” author is expected to address his departure during Thursday’s 4 p.m. broadcast of “Your World.”
Following his exit, “Coast to Coast” will be rebranded as “FOX Business Live,” while “Cavuto Live” on Saturdays will become “Fox News Live.” All of the Cavuto-anchored programs will be helmed by rotating hosts until they’re replaced by new programming, set to be announced early next year.
Cavuto’s decision to move on from Fox News comes over a year after Tucker Carlson and Fox agreed to “part ways” amid allegations he played a role in propagating 2020 election misinformation. But it isn’t just the conservative and controversial network that’s losing familiar faces.
On Wednesday, news broke that senior political analyst Gloria Berger would be leaving CNN after 17 years. Emmy-winning broadcaster Chris Wallace announced last month he too would be departing the network after nearly three years.
Norah O’Donnell announced in July that she would leave “CBS Evening News” following the 2024 presidential election. Less than two months later, Jeff Glor, Ben Tracy, Anna Werner and Roxana Saberi were also revealed to be leaving the network, though that move was due to Paramount Global’s latest layoffs.
In perhaps the most notable departure this year, Hoda Kotb announced in October that she’d be leaving the “Today” show after nearly 20 years.
