Former Top of the Pops presenter, 52, looks unrecognisable 30 years after 90s telly fame – can you guess who?

THIS former Top of the Pops host looks unrecognisable 30 years after first finding fame in the 90s.

Now 52, this popular presenter looked fabulous as she showed off her new haircut with her followers – but can you guess who it is?

The TV star in question is Sarah Cawood, who shot to fame in the mid-90s.

Despite being best known for hosting Top of the Pops, she actually got her big break on kids TV channel Nickelodeon in 1995.

After this she went onto host shows like Channel 4’s The Girlie Show and the BBC’s Live & Kicking.

She was brought in to host Top of the Pops in the early noughties.

Sarah – who has two kids with husband Andy Merry – has also been a radio host, and was known for her work on Heart.

HEALTH BATTLE

Earlier this year, Sarah shared her concern about her breast cancer returning.

The star was diagnosed in 2022 and received treatment, and was given the all clear.

But she has admitted to fans that it is constantly on her mind that it could come back.

In a candid Instagram post, she wrote: “This is the reality of anyone who has had any kind of cancer.

“I never struggled with health anxiety before but post-breast cancer it’s all consuming and it wears me out a bit tbh.

“I have been feeling tired since the new year began and although it’s probably life just life-ing, there’s always a niggling worry that It’s Back.

“All I can do is carry on doing healthy things, moving my body, practicing mindfulness and living each day with gratitude that I got to breathe again this morning.

“So on we go! Batting away those intrusive thoughts and Getting On With It. To anyone either going through a cancer diagnosis or anyone who has recovered from cancer and feels like this: I’ve got you, and my inbox is always open.

“And remember, anything that doesn’t feel right: get it checked out.

“Early detection is key.”

MONEY STRUGGLES

Along with her health, Sarah has been very candid about her money worries.

Last year she talked about how she had found it hard to balance her family’s books, and maintain the lifestyle they are used to.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “We are a family of freelancers, we live well, but we live to the edge of our means, and that’s going to have to stop.

“I will admit money burns a hole in my pocket, but this month, the sums haven’t added up and my poor husband, our main breadwinner, has a gap in his contracts that we have to fill somehow.

“I’m just glad that I can plug some of the hole with my direct sales money, and I’m intending that to be a full time wage, but the building of a business takes time and patience.

“I have no doubt it’s moving in the right direction but I hate doing the family finances and telling everyone we need to box smart for a few weeks.

“So yes, I’m talking about money.

“How hard it is to manage right now and how frustrating it is when you work as hard as we ALL do and have nothing left over for the fun stuff.

Just last week Sarah revealed she was still facing the same issues when it came to money.

In another Instagram post she told fans: “Do I miss telly? I miss the money!.

“And yes, sometimes I wonder what went wrong, but I’m here now so I’m going to make the most of it, however that looks.”
