Back in 2021, the Clemson Tigers said goodbye to quarterback Trevor Lawrence and said hello to the next man in line, DJ Uiagelelei.
However, four years later, Uiagelele finds himself with the possibility of not being selected on Days 1, 2, and 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cam Ward, who’s expected to be the No. 1 overall pick, Shedeur Sanders, and Jaxson Dart are among the headline quarterbacks in this year’s class.
Uiagelelei will likely be undrafted this week, as The Athletic’s Dane Brugler ranked Uiagelelei as his 20th quarterback in the 2025 class, meaning he has an undrafted grade.

So, how did Uiagelelei’s career go in the complete reverse?
A 2019 five-star recruit who committed to Clemson, Uiagelelei received some playing time in the following year when Lawrence, who was picked No. 1 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, tested positive for COVID-19.
Clemson head coach Dabo Sweeney raved about Uiagelelei’s skills at the time.
“D.J., he’s just an unbelievable talent,” Sweeney said.
“We all know what type of arm Trevor has.
“And sometimes he makes Trevor look kind of normal with his ability to just rip that football.
“And then, oh by the way, he’s 6-4, 245 pounds and can move.
“Never really seen a guy quite like him. Very unique.”
But the next season, Uiagelelei was given the chance to start and didn’t deliver, throwing nine touchdowns against 10 interceptions.
In 2022, Uiagelelei improved, posting 2,521 yards, 22 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

However, he was benched in the 2022 ACC Championship game and replaced by Cade Klubnik.
The move caused Uiagelelei to transfer to Oregon State for the 2023 campaign.
After producing similar numbers with the Ducks, Uiagelelei left and transferred to Florida State for his senior campaign, which would be the worst of them all.
The 24-year-old injured his hand in an October game and started five games, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns to boot.
Uiagelelei finished his senior season with 1,065 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions.
