A BLACKOUT for 24 hours will soon hit both FedEx and the UPS, leaving Americans without the essential services for a full day.
Without them, citizens will be unable to send or receive packages, leaving people scrambling to plan ahead.

As soon as Americans recover from the retail blackout that hit on Easter Sunday, another major US holiday is here to cause disruption.
Memorial Day takes place on the last Monday in May, which this year falls on May 26.
As a result, FedEx and the UPS will freeze the majority of its services.
This is because Memorial Day is one of the the 11 federally recognized holidays.

The US Sun recently reported on this blackout back in April, with one key thing needed from you to still access services.
As far as FedEx goes, the freeze does target common services used by the American public.
Primarily, FedEx Express and FedEx Freight services will be put out of use for the full 24 hours.
However, the FedEx Office will be running on modified hours.
UPS locations will be closed on Memorial Day and there will be no UPS pickup or delivery service, as reported by Parade.
But there will still be a UPS Express Critical service running on May 26.
UPS recommends calling 1-800-714-8779 to learn more about the service and how you can access it.
GROCERY STORES
When it comes to grocery stores, much like with Easter Sunday, it is important to know what you local store is doing.
Costco will to close its stores to mark Memorial Day, according to its website.
This is not unusual for the store, which normally closes tom observe major holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving., too.
But there are some major stores still open.
For example, Target and Walmart will both be open on Memorial Day.
And some are even choosing to give into the holiday sprit, even though Memorial Day is typically a more sombre affair.
Stores closed on Memorial Day

Since Memorial Day is a federal holiday, many Americans have the day off work.
While most grocery stores and retailers remain open, there are some exceptions
Costco is closing all stores for the whole day.
So is Natural Grocers, which has 168 stores across 20 states.
Postal services are also affected by the holiday.
All UPS locations will be closed.
FedEx will close many locations, while others will operate with reduced hours.
T.J. Maxx is also operating with different holiday hours that will vary by location.
Aldi will follow suit with “limited hours.”
Sam’s Club has announced that stores will shutter two hours earlier than normal at 6 pm for the upcoming holiday.
Target and Kroger will also have adjusted hours but will remain open.
Natural Grocers operates more than 162 stores across 20 states.
But despite its size, the chain will give employees the day off on May 26 with pay.
Natural Grocers also does this with other big days throughout the year.
The company says: “We live and breathe family.
“At the end of the day, it’s the people we love that make it all worthwhile.
“We also think it’s the best thing about the holidays — they’re a chance to spend time with loved ones.”
