The New York Rangers will be saying goodbye to commentator Sam Rosen, whose run as the TV voice of the team is coming to an end.
Rosen has had a farewell tour this season – the 40th and last for the 77-year-old.
With the Rangers officially out of playoff contention, all eyes have been on who will work in the booth next season.
It was reported by the New York Post’s Mollie Walker that Kenny Albert is expected to be the Rangers’ TV play-by-play man on MSG Network.
Walker added that Alex Faust will be expected to fill in for Albert when he’s unavailable to work on the Rangers broadcasts.
Faust previously worked as a fill-in voice on Rangers radio broadcasts.
And longtime analyst Joe Micheletti is expected to continue his role alongside Albert on TV, per the NY Post.
Albert brings with himself plenty of experience with the Rangers.
He’s been a part-time radio voice of the Rangers since 1995.
Albert is also the lead NHL play-by-play commentator for TNT Sports.
And he calls NFL games for Fox.
Albert briefly replaced Doc Emrick as NBC’s head NHL voice in 2020 before the network ended its hockey coverage.
The 57-year-old is the son of the Hall of Fame broadcaster Marv Albert.
He grew up in New York and, thanks to his father, was able to work as the official statistician for Rangers radio broadcasts at the age of 14.
The retirement of Rosen comes as the Rangers have been dealing with a disappointing season.

After reaching the Eastern Conference Final last year, they have been around .500 and fallen short of making the playoffs this season.
They have now gone 31 years without winning a Stanley Cup.
Their last Cup win came in 1994, as Rosen is known for his iconic call, “This one will last a lifetime,” during the final seconds of the championship victory.
