Emmerdale viewers tuned in to see Dawn Taylor (played by Olivia Bromley) dominate the double bill tonight, but in fact it was what was going on with Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) and Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) that peaked interest.
Having nagged Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) to reveal the identity of hers and Paddy Kirk’s (Dominic Brunt) baby, Faith was left disappointed when she explained how the scan with the baby’s sex on which she had left on Grace’s grave had blown away.
As if by miracle, in a later scene Bear was sweeping up outside the front of the Woolpack when he came across the envelope containing the lost scan.
Calling Faith over to share what he had found, the pair debated whether or not they should look inside to find the answer out, and after much deliberation they did.
But there were hints throughout the scenes to suggest they were mistaken, what happens if Faith starts blurting it out to other villagers?
“This might not even be Chas’ baby,” Bear argued and Faith replied sarcastically: “Of course! Because there must be thousand of baby scans billowing about on the breeze. Of course, there is only one way to be sure… Chas’ name will be on it!
“They do say be careful what you wish for. Are we betraying her trust?” Faith asked and Bear stated: “I can’t do this.”
Eager to find out, Faith tried another approached: “Just think of the bond we will share.”
But they were interrupted by Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) who was shouting at them from across the village about being excited to become a grandparent.
Deciding it was best to leave it, Faith remarked: “Oh forget it, just put it back love. You bring out the devil in me!”

As she walked off into the distance, viewers saw Bear look down at his hands and immediately shout: “It’s a boy! I just had a look and it’s a boy.”
However, the “look” was extremely brief, he didn’t open anything, turn the paper over, therefore it had been staring at him all this time.
To add to suspicion, in a later scene, Bear rushed into the pub to speak to Faith.
“Where’s the scan letter, I’d like a little look myself,” Faith asked and Bear argued: “It’s too risky. I binned it whilst singing You Are My Sunshine, it was very sweet.”
If Bear really did dispose of the scan, which contained the truth about Chas and Paddy’s baby’s identity, there could be devastating consequences.
