Elon Musk said he’s on a quest to “destroy” the “woke mind virus,” claiming it “killed” his estranged transgender daughter, in a new interview during which he also deadnamed and misgendered her.
Speaking with psychologist and conservative commentator Dr. Jordan Peterson, the 53-year-old billionaire referenced his 20-year-old daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, and her decision to transition. She is one of six children he shares with ex-wife, Justine Wilson.
Musk said his daughter, who came out as trans in 2016, opted to undergo gender-affirming surgery during the pandemic. He also blasted the procedure as “evil,” describing it as “child mutilation and sterilization under the guise of gender-affirming care.”
“I was essentially tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys,” Musk told Peterson during the Daily Wire interview. “This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on, and we had COVID going on, so there was a lot of confusion and I was told Xavier might commit suicide.”
Wilson was legally granted her name and gender change at age 18 at the Santa Monica Courthouse in California on June 22, 2022. In court filings at the time, she said she “no longer wishes to be related” to Musk “in any way, shape or form.”
Musk also reflected on “deadnaming,” the act of calling a transgender or nonbinary person by a name they used before transitioning.
“They call it ‘deadnaming’ for a reason,” the Telsa CEO noted. “The reason it’s called ‘deadnaming’ is because your son is dead. So my son, Xavier, is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”
