Elon Musk accidentally sets 'perfect trap' for UK's far-right – and could help police

Elon Musk could have accidentally provided the “perfect trap” for the UK police to catch far-right thugs protesting in the UK.

The billionaire mogul has sparked the ire of Downing Street today after posting on X, the social media platform he owns, that “civil war is inevitable”.

But in an unexpected twist, Musk could actually help police catch the perpetrators.

James Ball, political editor for The New European, wrote on X: “Elon Musk has accidentally built a perfect trap for UK far-right influencers, as many of them have bought blue ticks – meaning ‘X’ has their payment and ID details, even if their account is ‘anonymous’.”

He said Musk has complied with almost 100 percent of global law enforcement requests – much higher than Twitter ever did.

“So when UK police ask for account details, the odds are they’ll get them. That’s some very easy convictions, with riot sentencing enhancements to boot,” he explained.

Ball added: “The reams of video posted here and to TikTok will come back to bite rioters too, just as it did in the US on Jan 6th.

“Video, easy identification, and then location corroboration from phone data makes convictions very easy to get. And again, sentences will be long.

“So yes, social media is playing a role in emboldening and inciting the rioters to act. But it’s also planting the seeds of what could be a catastrophic downfall for those involved.”
