Elderly cyclist critically injured in crash with school bus in Brooklyn


A 69-year-old cyclist was critically injured when he crashed into the path of an oncoming school bus Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The biker was heading north on 21st Ave. near 83rd St. in Bath Beach when he struck an open door of a parked car around 1:35 p.m., according to cops.

The man was thrown from the bike and into the northbound lanes of traffic, where the 52-year-old driver of a school bus slammed into him.

Medics rushed the man to NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn in extremely critical condition.

The driver of the bus remained on the scene and did not immediately face any charges.

There were no children on the bus during the crash, cops said.
