easyJet explains why flights to popular Spanish destination suddenly end next year


Holidaymakers planning a trip to Spain over the summer may have to revise their plans as easyJet is ending flights to a popular destination.

A customer hoping to book a flight to Madrid contacted the airline as they were concerned to see flights were no longer available after the first few months of the year.

They got in touch over X to ask “are you stopping the route Madrid-Luton after March 2025?”, sharing a screengrab showing the cheapest prices for flights from London Luton to Madrid for each month, with the prices ending in March next year.

At the time of writing, the last available tickets for the route from Luton to Madrid, and from Madrid to Luton, are for Friday, March 28.

easyJet said in response: “Some routes are seasonal. We are constantly reviewing our routes and flight availability, so please continue to check our website.”

They also sent over a link to where the person could sign up for a newsletter to get the latest updates as new flights are released.

easyJet also has a low-fare finder tool you can use to find some of the cheapest flights including for 2025.

Flights between Luton and Madrid resume towards the end of October, with the first flight either way on Sunday, October 26.

If you are still keen on a city break in the Spanish capital, there are several flights from other London airports to Madrid over the summer months next year.

Ryanair has flights between Stansted and Madrid while British Airways and Iberia is operating flights to and from Heathrow.

easyJet has just launched flights to five new routes from Birmingham Airport. This includes twice weekly flights to Marrakesh in Morocco, from £31.99 return.

If you fancy a slightly cooler city break, you can head off to see the Northern Lights in Reykjavik, with flights to the capital of Iceland from £50.29.

The airline has also launched services to Hurghada in Egypt, Prague in the Czeck Republic, and Krakow in Poland.

“Now they can choose from flights to Marrakesh, Reykjavik, Hurghada, Prague and Krakow, as well as a range of fantastic value easyJet holidays’ resorts, and we look forward to welcoming them onboard.”
