EastEnders fans have recently seen Hunter Owen’s (played by Charlie Winter) behaviour change worryingly following the dramatic events played out at New Year.
And in upcoming scenes, the BBC One soap are going to start teasing his exit.
Episodes aired earlier this week have shown Hunter behave irrationally and unpredictably, much to the fear of his mother Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite).
And in upcoming episodes, there will be news a body has been discovered in a nearby woods
It comes as Hunter, Mel and Louise (Tilly Keeper), who has been invited round for dinner, sit together at the table and tuck into a meal.
As the radio announces the chilling news, Mel reminds Hunter just how close they are to the truth being found out.
However, this is just the start of their troubles as later, the police turn up at the door and take Mel in for questioning.
But her invitation doesn’t go unnoticed by the other Walford residents as Jack Branning (Scot Maslen) watches on.
Confused as to why Mel is driving away in the back of a police car, Jack asks Hunter what’s happened, and in a split second he gets aggressive and tells Jack to mind his own business.
Meanwhile, Mel starts to sweat from the onslaught of questions being fired at her by the investigating police officer.
Panicking, she drops Jack in the situation and lies, claiming he was her alibi for the night of the wedding, saying they spent it together and rekindled their romance.
But this is unbeknown to Jack, will he go along with it?
Unable to tell Jack about the spin on her story, the police rock up at Jack’s home and he too is questioned about his and Mel’s whereabouts that night.
It seems he will go along with Mel’s lie, but understandably, demands the truth when she comes round to explain what’s happened.
As the events of that night unfold, Jack is left dumbstruck and tries to convince her to come clean and tell the police everything.
Worrying for her son’s future and safety, she devises a plan and pleads with Jack to help them escape the Square.
With Jack as an accomplice, Mel and Hunter prepare to flee, but in a storyline twist, they realise they are being followed by the police.
Who tipped the authorities off? Or has Jack turned on Mel and told the police about Hunter’s evil actions?
In an interview with Metro.co.uk, actress Tamzin who plays Mel spoke out about her character’s reason for using Jack.
She said: “She uses him as an alibi because he has been the only person that actually kind of trusts her, Mel doesn’t really have any friends on the Square. Also, she thinks that Jack still loves her in a way and maybe he would do this for love.”
EastEnders returns tomorrow night at 7.30pm on BBC One.
