A Doordash customer has shared the unsettling message he received telling him his order had been refunded.
Taking to X, Matty from Los Angeles, US, said his order “seemed really normal”.
Despite this, delivery service Doordash intervened and instigated the refund process without Matty having applied for it, as he did not know anything was wrong.
His now-viral post has seen hundreds of comments, with people wondering what the issue was. Matty is still somewhat in the dark himself.
He posted: “My dasher delivered my food and then apparently sent me something so obscene they refunded me.” Attached was a cropped image of the order being cancelled.
The Doordash message read: “To shield you from inappropriate content from your Dasher, we’ve cancelled this order. We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.” Though Matty was unsure why his order had been cancelled, he revealed that he had not eaten any of it just to be safe.
He wrote: “Dude seemed really normal and friendly so I feel like this was an error. Food was completely safety sealed by the restaurant but I didn’t eat it. You tip when you place the order and I always tip.”
Nosey foodies are now trying to figure out exactly what happened. One user joked: “The curiosity would kill me.”
Fellow delivery drivers have suggested it could have been a problem with the photo taken of the food. One revealed their embarrassing but hilarious delivery, writing: “I once snapped a photo as a dog was in the window watching..as I clicked the photo, he turned and left and it was a shot of his backside..
“I guess THAT wasn’t vulgar lol..the guy buying the food laughed and said he still had his appetite Yes, I could’ve retaken the photo. Nope.”
Other users speculated there was trouble with the image uploaded to the Doordash delivery, though this has not been confirmed. One thought: “I think he accidentally uploaded a NSFW photo rather than the photo of your food being delivered.”
