Washing and scrubbing tea-stained mugs may seem ineffective, especially when the stains don’t budge, but there is a simple solution.
One distressed Reddit user posted: “I’ve put up with the brown tea stain in my favourite mugs for years. But [I] suddenly wondered whether there’s either a way to effectively remove the stain.”
The social media user wondered are there “mugs made of particular materials that are less likely to stain?”, to which a bunch of replies came to the rescue.
Lots of Reddit commentators revealed that the key cleaning agent to remove stains from any mug is to use baking soda.
“[Tea strains are] easily removed with baking soda and water made into a paste; let sit for 30 minutes and wipe it off,” said one.
