Donald Trump's record-breaking cabinet is worth more than Greece and Hungary combined

Donald Trump has been putting together the wealthiest administration in US history ahead of his inauguration tomorrow (January 20).

The figures are staggering and they break the record he himself set the first time he took power in the White House back in 2016.

The men and women who will hold key roles in his government this time around have combined net worths of around £410 billion. And to give you some context to this, the GDP of Greece is an estimated £195 billion while the GDP of Hungary is £173 billion.

Joe Biden’s cabinet members meanwhile are worth a total of £96 million – much less than Trump’s own personal net worth of an estimated £4.1 billion.

Of course, one man taking an important position in Trump’s cabinet happens to be the world’s richest. Below we profile some of the most affluent backers (excluding the less wealthy millionaires) who could have huge impacts on the lives of ordinary Americans in the coming years.

Elon Musk

The most famous man in Trump’s filthy rich team is the CEO of Tesla and Space X, Elon Musk.

He bought Twitter, now X, back in October 2022 for an estimated £36 billion, short change for a man worth a mind-boggling £345 billion, according to Forbes.

Musk, who promised to cut $2tn from the national budget, will oversee a new department of government efficiency with the aim of cutting waste from public spending.

He himself forked out an enormous £205 million backing Trump during the election campaign.

One man who will partner with him for DOGE, the government efficiency program, is Trump’s former primary challenger, Vivek Ramaswam, who is worth almost £1 billion, according to Forbes.

Linda McMahon

WWE CEO Linda McMahon, who has since split from Vince McMahon, is believed to be worth £2.4 billion and she was picked to become the Secretary of Education.

It is not the first time the 76-year-old has helped Trump after she served as his administrator of the Small Business Administration in 2016.

Speaking about her in the past, Trump said: “Linda has a tremendous background and is widely recognised as one of the country’s top female executives advising businesses around the globe.”

He added: “Linda is going to be a phenomenal leader and champion for small businesses and unleash America’s entrepreneurial spirit all across the country.”

Howard Lutnick

Howard Lutnick is the CEO of finance firm Cantor Fitzgerald and he will head up Trump’s Commerce Department.

Forbes estimated his net worth as being almost £1 billion and he told a crowd at Madison Square Garden that Trump would “build the greatest team to ever walk into government”.

Charles Kushner

The U.S. ambassador to France nominee was real estate billionaire Charles Kushner, whose son Jared is married to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.

According to Forbes, his family net worth is more than £5.7 billion, and he is indebted to Trump after being pardoned by him during the president-elect’s first time in the Oval Office.

Kushner had been behind bars for tax evasion and witness tampering – including getting a sex worker to sleep with his brother-in-law so he could record it on hidden cameras and send it to his sister.

Warren Stephens

One mega-rich member of Trump’s administration who British readers may be interested in is Warren Stephens.

That’s because Trump nominated the Tottenham Hotspur supporter to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.

The Arkansas Investor is believed to be worth more than £2.4 billion and Trump called him “one of the most successful businessmen in the country”.

Speaking about the Republican donor, he added: “Warren has always dreamed of serving the United States full-time. I am thrilled that he will now have that opportunity as the top diplomat, representing the USA to one of America’s most cherished and beloved allies.”

Other billionaires who could make up team Trump include Leondro Rizzuto Jr, who ran cosmetics company Conair, Tom Barrack, a real estate investor and Kelly Loeffler, who once owned the Women’s National Basketball Association Atlanta Dream and was picked to lead the Small Business Administration.
