Cleaning the cooker hob can be one of the trickiest tasks around as it’s a prime target for spills and stains.
Plus, with those high temperatures, it means any mess can get practically soldered on, making cleaning an absolute chore.
In search of a miracle solution, a cleaning enthusiast has taken to the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page to ask for some advice.
Posting a photo of her dirty cooker hob, Joanne Searle wrote: “Does anyone know what I can use to get the thick fatty greasy deposits off of my hob, please?
“I can never get it completely clean even when I’m scrubbing with a scourer.”
The majority of group members in the comments recommended either using hot soapy water or a combination of white vinegar and baking soda.
However, some Mrs Hinch fans claimed that there’s one item that could do a “better job” – soda crystals.
Lynne Welsh instructed: “Cover your hob in a paste of soda crystals and water, leave for five minutes and the grease will wipe off without scrubbing.
“I did use bicarbonate of soda and vinegar before but this did a better job and in half the time.”
Hanna Clancey chimed in: “Yeah I love this stuff! It works better than anything else I’ve tried.”
Nicky Jackson wrote: “Leave soda crystals mixed with some water to soften the grease for a few minutes and the grease comes off so easily.”
Elsewhere on another Mrs Hinch cleaning group fan page, Nicola Davis revealed her cleaning dread turned to delight with Dri-Pak liquid soda crystals
She wrote: “I was absolutely dreading cleaning my hob but thanks to the Dri-Pak liquid soda crystals it was a breeze.”
Though she forgot to snap a ‘before’ photo, she wrote: “Unfortunately I didn’t think to take a pic before I started but it was in an awful state (don’t judge me!).
“I just poured some of the stuff on and left it for five minutes followed by a wipe down with a microfibre cloth. It worked like magic. I didn’t have to scrub at all.”
