HENRY RUGGS is plotting a shock return to the gridiron, despite being in prison.

The former Las Vegas Raiders star is currently behind bars for his fatal DUI crash in 2021, which tragically killed a woman and her dog.

He struck a plea deal with prosecutors which would see him spend three years behind bars.

But, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections, the wide receiver could be eligible for parole in August 2026.

And Ruggs hasn’t given up hope of returning to the NFL, with former team-mate Josh Jacobs revealing the 26-year-old is training religiously in prison.

During an appearance on The Pivot podcast, Jacobs said of Ruggs: “He’s positive about everything. He’s training. They let him train and things like that.

Jacobs claims multiple teams are willing to take a chance on Ruggs if he’s released on parole.

He continued: “I’m like, ‘When you come out, man, I don’t know if you will get a chance.’ I’ve been talking to some people for him.

“They’ve been saying a couple of teams are willing to give him a chance.

“I’m like, ‘When you get that chance, man, you better not ever – don’t look back.

“‘And prove to yourself and prove to everybody that one decision don’t define you and who you are as a man.'”

Ruggs was driving at 127mph when he crashed into the car of his victim, Tina Tintor.

He initially faced 50 years behind bars for the crash, in which he was found to have a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit, but wound up pleading guilty to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death and one count of misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter.

The 2020 NFL Draft first-round pick’s actions still “hurt” Jacobs, who said: “He’s a good kid.

“He’s never been in trouble. I’ve never seen him do nothing crazy.

“He was just one of them guys that have a very, very unfortunate situation and something happened, a decision that he made.

“That’s what hurt me the most. Man, he isn’t somebody you would look at and be like, ‘Bro, you deserved this to happen to you.”
