Deep clean your oven and leave it sparkling for just £1.50 – 'wipe off' grease

If your wallet is a little light and your oven is a little worse for wear after cooking up a storm on Christmas, don’t panic.

There’s a handy cleaning tip you can utilise for under £2 that will have your oven sparkling like new.

In fact, you may already have the ingredients you need for this cleaner in your home, meaning the oven can be fresh and clean for no money at all.

By creating a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar, you can blast grease and grime from your oven without nasty chemicals stinking up your kitchen.

To start, remove the oven racks and soak them in warm, soapy water for about 30 minutes to loosen any baked-on grease and grime.

From there, create a paste with about half a cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water in a small bowl until it forms a thick paste.

Once the paste is ready, apply it all over the inside of the oven using a sponge or cloth, avoiding the heating elements.

Make sure the greasiest parts are covered thickly and let it sit for 12 hours – overnight is best.

After resting and lifting some of the grease, take a damp cloth and wipe away as much of the paste as you can before getting a spray bottle with white vinegar and spritzing your oven.

It will fizz, and once the fizzing has stopped you can take a clean damp cloth and wipe off any residue.

If you want a streak-free finish, take dry microfibre cloth and polish the oven and the door.

Finally, after the racks have had time to soak, give them a scrub with a sponge to remove any lingering grease, rinse, and dry them before putting them back in the oven.
