Gunners boss Mikel Arteta had issued a rallying call before the contest for a febrile atmosphere at the Emirates.
But the fans were silenced minutes into the match as Ousmane Dembele smashed PSG into the lead.
The French forward was left unmarked just inside the box to smash past Arsenal keeper David Raya and in off the post.
It came just minutes after England star Rice had given his teammates a vital warning.
Speaking in a pre-match huddle on the Emirates pitch, he was heard to say: “If we don’t have the ball, we die.”
As Dembele ran off to celebrate his opener, Rice was shown on TNT cameras.
The 26-year-old was seen shaking his head in apparent disgust.
