The Republican National Committee came out swinging against Bill de Blasio on Thursday, hours after the mayor officially announced his candidacy for president.
An email blast from the RNC included a “Bill de Blasio cheat sheet” with six zingers labeling the termed-out Democrat as a groundhog killer who honeymooned in Communist Cuba.
It also slams him as an “environmentalist wacko who wants to ban skyscrapers made of glass or steel & phase out meat consumption.”
“His tenure as mayor has been plagued with scandal, from pay-to-play allegations to murdering a groundhog,” the list says, referencing The Post’s 2014 exclusive on the coverup in the death of Staten Island rodent “Charlotte” — shortly after she was dropped by the mayor.
The RNC also points to a recent Quinnipiac poll that found 76 percent of New Yorkers don’t support his White House ambitions.
“No one wants him to run, from his constituents to his own wife,” the list continues. “His friends and aides describe his 2020 bid as ‘f–ing insane’ and ‘idiotic.’”
De Blasio also “honeymooned in Communist Cuba, mused about Karl Marx and admired Sandinistas” in Nicaragua, the list says.
RNC communications director Michael Ahrens described de Blasio as “a liberal extremist who wants the government to control everything from your health care to what you eat.”
“Americans can rest assured that he won’t win, but unfortunately his socialist policies fit right in with the rest of his comrades in the race,” he said.
