Dan Schneider addresses damning allegations made in Nickelodeon documentary

Dan Schneider, a former writer and producer for Nickelodeon, is apologizing for his past actions, which are currently at the center of ID’s new documentary “Quiet on Set.”

The doc, which examines allegations of abuse, sexism and racism on the sets of Nickelodeon series in the 1990s and early 2000s, first aired on March 17 and 18, and is now available for streaming.

Schneider said he watched both nights of the series and decided to come forward to address the controversy in a conversation with former “iCarly” star BooG!e.

“Watching over the past two nights was very difficult, me facing my past behaviors, some of which were embarrassing and which I regret,” Schneider began in the interview shared Tuesday.

“I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology,” the 58-year-old added.

While Schneider denies purposefully sexualizing child stars, he admits he put people in “situations” that were not acceptable and wrote inappropriate jokes that should have been cut.

On Monday, a spokesperson for Schneider released a statement, claiming other adults were part of the production process and also approved his decisions over the years.

“Everything that happened on the shows Dan ran was carefully scrutinized by dozens of involved adults, and approved by the network,” his spokesperson said. “Had there been any scenes or outfits that were inappropriate in any way, they would have been flagged and blocked by this multilayered scrutiny.”

Meanwhile, actor Drake Bell, who claims in the documentary he was molested by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck, has said Schneider was an ally to him in the aftermath of his abuse.

Schneider also addressed Bell’s story in his sit-down on Tuesday, saying he was devastated when he learned of Peck’s behavior and helped Bell’s mother prepare her statement for Peck’s sentencing trial.

“Quiet on Set” is now available to stream on Max, Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV Stream, Fubo, Sling, Verizon, and Xfinity, as well for rental on Apple TV and Prime Video.
