Dallas Cowboys lose three key stars during ‘selectively aggressive’ free agency and face huge Micah Parsons decision

THE Dallas Cowboys have had a busy week in free agency – but are left with more questions than answers.

Dallas still has the future of star pass rusher Micah Parsons hanging over the franchise.

And they have lost three huge pieces of their defence to rival team.

Chief executive Stephen Jones revealed last month that the team would take a “selectively aggressive” approach.

But the biggest move the team has made was re-signing Osa Odighizuwa to a four-year, $80 million deal.

Soloman Thomas joined him on the defensive line in a two-year, $8 million move from the New York Jets.

Defensive end Payton Turner also joined on a $3 million deal for 2025.

But Dallas has seen DeMarcus Lawrence leave for the Seattle Seahawks on a mega three-year deal worth $42 million.

His fellow defensive end Chauncey Golston also left for the New York Giants.

And cornerback Jourdan Lewis went to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a $30 million deal over three years.

But Parsons’ future is the key to Dallas’ defence.

He is headed into the final year of his rookie deal and set to earn $24 million in 2025.

The pass rusher has seen Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett get paid by other teams.

He shared a cryptic three-word message on X this week, which could have been about his contract.

“It’s my time,” Parsons simply wrote.

The Cowboys will likely have to pay him more than $40 million a year after seeing the Cleveland Browns pay a similar sum to Myles Garrett.

Dallas has already worked out new contracts for offensive superstars Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.

But their offence has been rocked by guard Zack Martin retiring at age 34 after an iconic career.

Running back Rico Dowdle has left Dallas and signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers worth up to $6.25 million.

The pair have been replaced by Robert Jones and Javonte Williams respectively.

Dallas finished 7-10 in 2024 and parted company with head coach Mike McCarthy after missing the playoffs.

New head coach Brian Schottenheimer has been tasked with getting the Cowboys back on top in the NFC East.

But a lot depends on the likes of Prescott, Lamb and Parsons.
