Costco members in a frenzy after all credit machines ‘died’ at checkout – and shoppers fume it’s ‘pure chaos’

SEVERAL Costco customers have claimed that credit card machines in stores nationwide are not operational.

Complaints over the payment pains started surfacing on social media Tuesday afternoon.

“All the card machines have died,” fumed a member at the warehouse retailer in a Reddit thread.

They took a snapshot of lines backed up down the aisle, seemingly full of customers who intended to pay with credit or debit cards.

“Sounds like it’s impacting stores across North America,” another shopper noted in the thread.

The U.S. Sun has contacted Costco for comment.

If that statement is accurate, it would mean that Costco’s over 600 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, along with its 109 locations in Canada, were affected.

“S**t is down up in WA too,” a third customer cried.

“Also down in Kansas City area,” someone else noted.

A consumer also argued that the technical difficulties had happened a few weeks prior to several businesses, and that Costco was facing a similar problem.

NOT AGAIN

Costco also recently confirmed that it will close its locations for 24 hours again, only weeks after it left some shoppers stranded.

On Easter, the warehouse retailer was closed in recognition of the Christian holiday.

Customers were forced to get their grocery essentials elsewhere, and now will have to do the same again on Memorial Day.

The United States celebrates Memorial Day, which honors military veterans who died while serving the country, on the last Monday in May.

This year, that’s May 26, but there are other options for shoppers who won’t be able to get their Costco finds.

Those who want to stick with a warehouse retailer can go to Sam’s Club, as its website notes it’ll be open on Memorial Day.

Stores closed on Memorial Day

Since Memorial Day is a federal holiday, many Americans have the day off work.

While most grocery stores and retailers remain open, there are some exceptions

Costco is closing all stores for the whole day.

So is Natural Grocers, which has 168 stores across 20 states.

Postal services are also affected by the holiday.

All UPS locations will be closed.

FedEx will close many locations, while others will operate with reduced hours.

T.J. Maxx is also operating with different holiday hours that will vary by location.

Aldi will follow suit with “limited hours.”

Sam’s Club has announced that stores will shutter two hours earlier than normal at 6 pm for the upcoming holiday.

Target and Kroger will also have adjusted hours but will remain open.

Locations nationwide will operate from 8 am to 6 pm for Plus members and 10 am to 6 pm for Club members.

That means it’ll still close at least two hours earlier than normal.

Stores without subscription-based operations, like Walmart, will be operating on Memorial Day.

FAMILY FIRST

Like Costco, Natural Grocers will also be closing down on May 26.

Natural Grocers is known for its natural produce and has 162 stores in 20 states.

In honor of Memorial Day and its company ethos, it’s giving employees a paid day off.

“We live and breath family,” Natural Grocers noted in a statement.

“At the end of the day, it’s the people we love that make it all worthwhile.”

“We also think it’s the best thing about the holidays — they’re a chance to spend time with loved ones,” it continued.

Costco also caught attention earlier in April for a $20 pair of pants nearly identical to a Lululemon favorite.

The warehouse retailer also dropped prices this month on some items, including a garden gadget for under $10.
