Coronation Street spoilers: Kevin Webster suffers terrible loss as Paula’s secret exposed?

Kevin (played by Michael Le Vell) has been taking the backseat on Coronation Street as of late, helping his son Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) adjust without one of his legs following a harrowing sepsis plot some months ago.

In the meantime, his daughter Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) has reignited her relationship with hot shot lawyer Paula (Stirling Gallacher) who arrived on the ITV soap last year as an old school friend of her mother, Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor).

It was recently revealed Paula has other connections in Weatherfield as the lawyer is currently representing builder Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann) on a drug smuggling charge.

Next week, her backstory is explored even further as Kevin and Sophie both make an unsettling discovery abut Paula’s past.

The drama kicks off when Kevin tells Jack he has had a sports blade made for him to allow the youngster to enjoy participating in football matches following his leg amputation.

Whilst Jack is overjoyed by Kevin’s gift, Paula tells Sophie her home has been burgled but shuts down the conversation when she’s pressed for more information.

Acting as the concerned partner, Sophie invites her girlfriend to stay with her and Kevin, a decision the Weatherfield mechanic isn’t too pleased with.

Paula assures Kevin she is looking for a new home to rent but Sophie shocks her father by telling him she wants the lawyer to move in with them for good.

Again, Kevin isn’t pleased by his daughter’s announcement but Sophie tells him in no uncertain terms her relationship with Paula is for the long haul.

Seeing how happy Paula makes Sophie, Kevin puts his doubts to the back of his mind and tells the lawyer she is more than welcome to move in.

However, when Kevin later leaves Jack alone in the house, the youngster is left terrified when an intruder breaks in and goes through Paula’s files left on the side.

Frightened by what’s happening, Jack hides under his bed and messages Kevin, who is out on a job away from the cobbles.

Horrified his son is in danger, Kevin hastily returns home and breaks down the door to Number 12 which in turn, spooks the burglar.

As the mystery character flees the scene, they are tackled to the ground by Kevin’s neighbour Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) and it’s not long before his identity is revealed.

Paula admits to the Websters they’re a criminal she has been acting against and is the burglar who has been taunting her for the past few weeks.

With Kevin and Sophie furious with Paula, the lawyer packs her bags and decides to leave Number 13, but will her young lover change her mind?

If Sophie asks Paula to stay in fear the lawyer will be targeted again, could Kevin be left heartbroken as either his daughter or son are attacked as the criminals step up their plans against Paula?

Elsewhere on the cobbles, it seems Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) coercive control abuse plot isn’t going to let up anytime soon.

Hinting at what’s to come for Yasmeen on This Morning yesterday, Shelley King, 63, said: “What you will see will become brutal, not physically brutal but emotionally brutal – which is worse in a way.

“And it’s a long term [storyline] and that’s the good thing about it. It’ll go on for about a year in little bits.”

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
