LAW enforcement now investigating John Elway’s golf cart accident that allegedly led to the death of his agent Jeff Sperbeck are under fire for their actions.
A source close to the accident exclusively opened up to The U.S. Sun and questioned why the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department weren’t immediately on the scene of the accident on April 26 in La Quinta, California.

“Why weren’t police there? It was a busy weekend, but, you know, it was such a bad accident, it’s weird they weren’t there,” the insider pondered.
The insider said Sperbeck fell off the back of the golf cart and at first Elway, 64, kept driving, not realizing what happened, when Johnny ‘Bananas’ Devenanzio, 42, who was also riding on the back, told Elway to stop.
They added that after the fall, Devenanzio tried to help Sperbeck while they waited for help.
“The ambulance came, like, 10 minutes later, and then everyone just left the scene because there was no police there.”
The insider said it was surprising that the police didn’t show up and that in the aftermath everyone just kind of left without any statements being taken or the former NFL star being given a breathalyzer.
In new photos, obtained by The U.S. Sun, Elway could be drinking out of a large styrofoam cup at the party he had attended before getting behind the wheel of the golf cart.
The photo was taken just two hours before the accident.
In a statement to The U.S. Sun, the Riverside Sheriff’s Department said “We value transparency and keeping the community accurately informed.
“We would like to clarify the circumstances surrounding the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office’s response.
“Unfortunately, we were not made aware of the incident until two days after it occurred.
“As a result, we were unable to respond at the time, as we had no prior knowledge of the situation from any source.”
They added that they are “committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community, and we take all incidents seriously.”
They are currently investigating despite not being on the scene initially.
According to ABC News, it was Cal Fire’s emergency personnel who responded to the 911 call placed by Elway, though it is still unclear how police were not immediately notified.
The U.S. Sun reached out to Cal Fire Riverside for comment.

HORRIFIC SCENE
As The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed last week, it was MTV reality star Devenanzio who was on the back of the golf cart alongside Sperbeck when he fell, and not Elway’s son as had been previously reported.
“Johnny and the agent were both standing where the golf bags normally go,” an insider claimed last week. “So many people ride this way every day.”
“Jeff just fell backward off the golf cart. He fell in a really bad way, and there was just a lot of blood.
The insider added that it seemed like this was just a freak accident and that no one did anything wrong.
“Johnny was the one helping, dealing with the blood, he was holding Jeff’s head, trying to stop the bleeding.”
The insider added they didn’t believe that Elway had been drinking, thou it is unclear what was inside the styrofoam cup he was pictured drinking out of before the accident.
As previously reported by The U.S. Sun, Sperbeck tragically died at the age of 62 after falling off a golf cart.
The incident occurred Saturday evening at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California, roughly two hours outside of Los Angeles.
Sperbeck was rushed to the hospital, where he was placed on life support after suffering a traumatic brain injury, according to TMZ.
There has been no indication that the former NFL star, who was driving the cart at the time, acted negligently.
Elway reportedly made the urgent call to 911 to ensure his friend received immediate medical attention following the fall.
The two shared a bond spanning decades, beginning in the early 1990s when Elway, then an NFL quarterback, hired Sperbeck as his manager.
After Elway retired with numerous accolades, their friendship endured, and they ventured into business together, co-founding 7Cellars, a winery named after Elway’s iconic jersey number.
FINAL DAYS
In the days leading up to the tragedy, Elway and Sperbeck spent time together at Stagecoach, California’s premier country music festival.
This year’s event featured headline acts such as Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs, with pop star Lana Del Rey making an appearance as she gears up to release a country album.
Although Elway resides in Colorado, their winery, 7Cellars, operates out of California.
