A SHOCKED 92-year-old yesterday told how terror cops chased two men into his bungalow amid a series of “urgent” raids aimed at halting a major attack.

Last night four Iranian men were still being quizzed while a fifth was bailed.

The pensioner, who lives alone, said: “The front door suddenly bashed open. There were two men and they grabbed my arms and left bruises.

“Then about ten armed police ran in after them and one was apprehended in the garden. Paramedics came to look at me shortly afterwards and looked at my arms.

“I’m not sure if I was scared, it all happened so quickly. But I definitely wasn’t happy.”

An image taken at the scene in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, showed an arrested man sitting on the ground with his arms behind his back.

The raid was carried out with others in West London, Swindon, Rochdale and Manchester.

One of the arrested men is said to have close ties to Iran’s government, with his family running prominent businesses.

The group was believed to be planning to target a premises linked to a dissident Iranian organisation.

Commander Dominic Murphy, Head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “We are progressing a significant and highly complex investigation, and have searches and activity under way at multiple addresses.

“We believe a specific premises was the target of this suspected plot.

“At this time, we will not be providing further information for reasons of operational security and public safety.”

In Rochdale, a 40-year-old was videoed being dragged from an address in his underwear while armed police ordered onlookers to stay inside.

In Swindon, a suspect aged 29 was pinned to the ground by plain clothed police outside a Costa Coffee shop while other officers raided an address nearby.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has thanked the police and security forces for “the action they have taken to keep our country safe”.

In a separate operation, three Iranian men aged 39, 44, and 55, were held in London suspected of being involved in “foreign power activity”.
