Launching in the US in 2014 through 2018, Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” campaign is coming back.

The beloved scheme saw popular first names being added to Coca-Cola bottles and cans.

But this time, the experience is being heightened with new digital experiences, as reported by the Daily Mail.

These include the Share a Coke Memory Maker, which lets fans create memes and videos to share with friends and family.

The drinks giant is also launching a rewards campaign through interactive games linked to the promotion, that can be played through its app.

In addition, a Share a Coke Personalization Experience Tour will take place.

This will see a special Share a Coke truck visit various cities and offer in-person experienced and events on college campuses.

Some of these locations will bring the digital experiences for fans to try in-person, but little detail is known on what this will look like.

It is also not yet know what cities will be visited.

The Share a Coke digital Hub is also making a comeback, which allows users to customise their products and make them personal to them.

Islam ElDessouky, Coca-Cola‘s global VP of creative, said: “The iconic Share a Coke is back and supercharged globally, celebrating real-world connection.”

The promotion will officially be making its return in April, with an exact date not yet reported.

NAME FEVER

Those who can recall the popular promotion over 10 years ago will remember how it catapulted Coca-Cola into a realm of fan “desire”.

It initially launched in Australia in 2011, and later came to Europe, Asia, and the US.

In its first summer, over 250 million Share a Coke bottles were sold.

Then-creative excellence director Jeremy Rudge said at the time: “The overwhelming demand for the personalized cans surprised us.

“They quickly became a must-have object of desire.”

While demand surged in the early years, it slowed down towards the end of the 2010s.

Fast Food meal deals

Here are some of the current value meals offered by popular fast food joints.

  • Double Stacked Taco
  • Chips and nacho cheese sauce
  • Medium drink

McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal:

  • McDouble or McChicken sandwich
  • Four-piece Chicken McNuggets

Burger King’s $5 Your Way Meal:

This led to the end of the campaign in 2018.

But Coca-Cola never officially confirmed that the campaign would be discontinued permanently.

It is not known how long fans can expect the promotion to stick around for on its second outing.

Given how it seemingly went away in 2018 due to a decline in sales, the duration of the revival could be determined by how many bottles it sells.

It is important to note that this has not been confirmed by Coca-Cola.
