Clean your stove with 65p 4-item solution for gleaming results without harsh chemicals

While commercial cleaners are available, they can be costly and contain harsh chemicals.

Lottomart offered an effective and budget-friendly DIY cleaning solution using everyday household items.

This homemade cleaner uses four common ingredients you can likely already find in your home – baking soda, white vinegar, liquid dish soap, and water.

These components work together to cut through grease and grime, restoring your stove’s shine without damaging its surface.

Baking soda costs between 80p and £1.50 for a 500g box, with approximately 20p worth needed for this recipe, while white vinegar is priced around £1 to £2 per litre, requiring about 5p worth.

Finally, the liquid dish soap ranges ranges from £1 to £3 for a 500ml bottle, using about 10p worth. For added fragrance and antibacterial benefits, a few drops of essential oil, such as lemon or tea tree, can be included.

Essential oils cost about £3 to £8 per bottle, with roughly 30p worth needed for this recipe.

Step-by-step guide to a spotless stove

1. Prepare the cleaning paste: In a bowl, mix half a cup of baking soda with half a cup of water to form a thick paste. Stir in one tablespoon of liquid dish soap until well combined.

For a pleasant scent, add 5 to 10 drops of your chosen essential oil if desired.

2. Apply the paste: Spread the paste generously over the stove’s surface, concentrating on areas with heavy grease or burnt food.

3. Add vinegar: Pour a quarter cup of white vinegar into a spray bottle and lightly mist it over the paste. The vinegar will react with the baking soda, creating a fizz that helps lift stubborn grime.

4. Let it sit: Allow the mixture to sit for 15 to 20 minutes to break down tough stains.

5. Scrub and wipe: Use a sponge or soft cloth to gently scrub the stove in circular motions. The baking soda’s abrasive quality will help remove dirt without scratching the surface.

6. Rinse and dry: Dampen a clean cloth with water to wipe away the paste and loosened grime. Finish by drying the surface with a clean, dry cloth for a streak-free shine.
