Emerson Palmieri has handed Chelsea boss Frank Lampard a boost by returning to full first team training.
The left-back has been out of action since limping off in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in September.
He lasted just 15 minutes before being taken off for Marcos Alonso, who has played in his place since.
The Italian looked sharp in the clip he posted on his social media which contained a number of different drills with and without the ball.
And there is hope that he could be fit enough to return against Newcastle this Saturday.
Since taking charge Frank Lampard has had to deal with a number of injuries to key players and therefore wants to monitor Emerson carefully.
The Athletic say that he will make his return against Ajax in the Champions League next week.
Emerson is now a real hit amongst fans at Stamford Bridge after proving his class in the second half of last season under Maurizio Sarri when he moved ahead of Alonso in the pecking order.
N’Golo Kante could also return against Newcastle but is unlikely to be risked.
The Frenchman dropped out of the starting line up of France’s 1-0 win over Iceland last Friday with an adductor strain.
He did return to light training on Sunday before being an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Turkey on Monday.
Kante has suffered his fair share of injury problems this season and therefore could be given extra time to get back to full fitness.
Andreas Christensen also picked up a groin injury while away on international duty with Denmark.
Mateo Kovacic was forced off the field for Croatia against Wales following a duel with Ben Davies.
Antonio Rudiger has not appeared since the 5-2 win over Wolves in September and continues to recover from a groin injury.
He too is closing in on his return to the squad.
