Champions League top scorers: Can Liverpool or Tottenham stars BEAT Lionel Messi?

Liverpool and Tottenham go head-to-head in Madrid in the first all-English Champions League final since 2008.

But while one of the teams will be walking away with the famous trophy, it’s highly unlikely the golden boot will go to a Liverpool or Tottenham star.

Lionel Messi is the current leader when it comes to goals in this year’s competition.

The Barcelona star netted a remarkable 12 times as the La Liga giants reached the semi-finals.

Messi is four clear of Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski and a further two ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Tottenham forwards Harry Kane and Lucas Moura are both on five goals.

Liverpool aces Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are all on four alongside Tottenham’s Son Heung-min.

So Lionel Messi is all-but guaranteed to win his sixth Champions League golden boot and first since 2014-15.
