YouTube star Ben Potter, known online as Comicstorian with more than 3 million subscribers, died from injuries sustained in a car accident over the weekend, according to authorities.
The 40-yera-old internet personality was involved in an incident on a Colorado interstate near Fort Collins on Saturday morning, when his Toyota 4Runner veered off the road and rolled multiple times, Colorado State Patrol told TMZ.
Despite wearing a seatbelt, Potter suffered fatal injuries. No other vehicles were involved and authorities stated there are no signs of excessive speed, alcohol or drugs contributing to the crash, which is still under investigation.
Potter’s widow Nathalie Potter announced the news in an emotional post on social media Monday night. She provided few details regarding the events surrounding his death, but confirmed he died Saturday.
“To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for,” she wrote.
“Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who would listen and make time for his loved ones,” the post continued. “He would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay. He was our rock and he’d reassure his loved ones whenever they needed it.”
Ben Potter shared some 4,000 videos over the course of his content-making career as Comicstorian, most of them audio narrations and analyses of Marvel and DC Comics tomes. He also had a gaming channel called Eligible Monster Gaming with nearly 200,000 subscribers where he would discuss “video game lore” and other content.
