British teenage sensation wins US Open title as star emulates Andy Murray


A Brit has taken home a trophy in Flushing Meadows.

Fifteen-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic was crowned the US Open junior girls’ champion after beating No.7 seed Wakana Sonobe 6-4 6-4 in Saturday’s final.

She becomes the first Brit girl to take home a junior US Open title since Oliver Golding in 2011. Andy Murray also won the boys’ event in 2004.
